# Slack polls for sales teams

For: Sales teams

Sales teams already live in Slack: deal rooms, win channels, the manager pinging about the
forecast. Polls fit into that rhythm when they are fast and when reps can see what comes
back. Nobody on quota will fill in a ten-question survey on the last day of the quarter.

These are the polls that sales leaders and enablement teams get real value from.

## Example polls

Paste any of these into the message box in Slack.

```text
/poll "How confident are you the team hits the number this quarter?" "Not at all" "Unlikely" "Coin flip" "Likely" "Certain" scale anonymous close after 1 day
```

The forecast reality check, three weeks before quarter end. *Premium: closing automatically.*

```text
/poll "Prospect says: we already use spreadsheets for this. How do you answer?" short text :fire: order-results-by-votes
```

Objection of the week. Reps react with fire to the answers that work. *Free.*

```text
/poll "Kickoff feedback" "Two minutes, anonymous." anonymous close after 2 days --- "Product roadmap session" scale --- "Negotiation workshop" scale --- "Customer panel" scale --- "What will you use this week?" short text
```

Same-day kickoff feedback, one rating per session. *Premium: surveys (several questions), closing automatically.*

```text
/poll "Deal of the month" "Northwind renewal" "Acme expansion" "Globex new logo" limit 1 close after 1 day
```

Monthly team vote. Not anonymous, so people see who backed whom. *Premium: vote limits, closing automatically.*

## The forecast question reps will answer honestly

In a forecast call, reps defend their number. In an anonymous poll, they tell you what
they think. A single 1 to 5 scale question three weeks before quarter end ("How confident
are you the team hits the number?") gives you a mean and median to hold against the committed
forecast. If the two disagree, that gap is worth a conversation. Same structure as the
[OKR confidence template](https://simplepoll.rocks/templates/okr-confidence/).

Run it at the same point each quarter so you can compare the numbers.

## Crowdsourcing objection handling

Post an objection you keep hearing as a `short text` poll with a voting reaction, and ask
reps how they answer it. Everyone writes their best response, the team reacts to the ones
that work, and with `order-results-by-votes` the strongest answers rise. Enablement gets material written by the people
who have actually used it. Pick one objection per week; a list of ten gets nothing.

## Feedback after kickoff and training

Sales kickoffs are expensive and get judged on vibes. Run a short anonymous survey
(Premium) the day it ends, one scale question per session plus "What will you use this
week?". The second question is the one that matters: if nobody can name anything, the
session did not land. The [training session feedback](https://simplepoll.rocks/templates/training-session-feedback/)
template has the full set.

## Contests and recognition

A monthly vote for the deal of the month, or the best call clip, gives the team a reason
to share wins in the channel. Make it `limit 1` (Premium) and close it after a day. Do not
make it anonymous: people like to be seen voting for a colleague. The
[team awards template](https://simplepoll.rocks/templates/team-awards/) has categories that are not just
biggest-number-wins.

## Let the people who use the tool pick it

When ops is choosing a dialer, a sequencing tool or a CRM add-on, run the trial with a few
reps first, then poll the trial group, not the whole floor. Ask which tool they would keep
using, `limit 1`, with "Neither" as an option. A tool the reps did not pick is a tool they
route around. See the [tool evaluation template](https://simplepoll.rocks/templates/tool-evaluation/).

## FAQ

### Why ask reps for confidence when you already have a forecast?

The forecast is what reps commit to in front of a manager. An anonymous confidence poll
is what they think. The difference tells you where to look.

### Can managers see who voted low?

Not on an anonymous poll. Nobody, the creator included, can see who answered what. Say
so in the question, or reps will assume otherwise.
